About Our Coaches

About Rowan Beste

Rowan Beste began his professional playing career in 2004 with the PGA Tour of Australasia and secured a full tour card on the Asian Tour in 2006 and 2007. After spending a decade traveling across Australia and Asia, he chose to become a fully qualified member of the PGA of Australia. Since then, Rowan has served as Golf Operations Manager and more recently as General Manager at Lakelands Golf Club, where he enjoys spending more time at home on the Gold Coast.

While Rowan's passion for golf began at a young age, he has now transitioned into a managerial role. He is dedicated to helping others improve their golf game, focusing on individual needs and ability levels to tailor lessons that best suit each client.

Availability: Rowan is available for lessons on Sunday mornings (by appointment) and occasionally during the week.

About Craig Chandler

Originally from Muree, NSW, Craig Chandler has built a successful career as a PGA of Australia Professional over the past 26 years, holding various coaching roles. He has also coached on the JLPGA Tour and held his JPGA Tour card for two years.

Craig’s straightforward and easy-to-understand approach to coaching is enhanced by the use of KVest, a wireless 3D technology that helps golfers—from beginners to tour players—monitor swing improvements with precision, to within 1 degree. Additionally, he is a Certified TPI Level 1 & 2 Golf Fitness Instructor.

Craig emphasizes the importance of combining a faultless swing, physical fitness, and mental control. As he notes, "Over the past 26 years, I have seen players with superb swings and attributes, but rarely do you find someone who has all three. This is why we often see different winners each week. My goal is to help the players I work with achieve this skill set."

About Michael Sim

Lakelands Golf Club is pleased to announce that Michael Sim is available to provide lessons for our members and guests. Michael has competed at the highest level on the USPGA Tour, reaching the top 50 in the official world golf rankings. He has participated in five major championships, with a best finish of tied for 18th. Michael has won seven professional tournaments worldwide and currently holds both the Western Australian Open and Queensland PGA titles.

Michael offers on-course lessons over nine holes as well as private lessons on the driving range. With a deep understanding of the game, he is committed to helping golfers of all levels achieve their personal goals. He also conducts short game masterclass sessions in a small group setting, where he teaches various shots and strategies for optimal results.

About Gavin Flint

Gavin Flint brings over 10 years of coaching experience and has been a member of the PGA of Australia for over 20 years. He has hosted more than 50 golf trips, camps, and worldwide events for his clients, accumulating over 12,000 hours of coaching in the process. A former National Amateur Champion, Gavin held four state amateur championships simultaneously before turning professional at the end of 2024.

Gavin focuses on long-term development through personalized training plans and specific goals, providing clients with a clear understanding of how to improve their game. His coaching sessions are conducted on the course, at the driving range, in the short game facility, on the putting green, and online, creating a comprehensive learning environment that covers all aspects of golf. Monthly plans offer 24/7 support and guidance between sessions, simplifying the improvement process for clients.

About Jenny Jones

Jenny Sevil, a former No. 1 Australian female professional golfer, has won nine tournaments on the Australian and Japanese professional golf tours. Known for her remarkable transformation after an uneven start to her professional career, Jenny now dedicates herself to sharing her unique Mind Game strategies with golfers of all levels.

The tools and techniques that helped Jenny transform her own game are now available to you. She emphasizes the mental aspect of golf, addressing what many consider the most crucial element: mastering the mind's challenges. By combining these insights with straightforward swing instruction, Jenny empowers you to elevate your game and play your best golf.

About Anne Wilson-Lawrence

Anne Wilson has been passionate about golf since 1974, representing Queensland and Australia while winning numerous amateur championships. She turned professional in 1986 and competed on the European Tour for two seasons. From 1988 to 1998, Anne was based in Tokyo, playing on the Japanese Tour, where she won the Akita TV Cup in 1995. In recognition of her achievements, she was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000.

Accredited as a teaching professional since 1994, Anne has taught for prestigious organizations including the Jack Nicklaus Golf Schools, Greg Norman Golf Foundation, and Women’s Golf QLD. Lakelands Golf Club is proud to have welcomed Anne to our team in 1998.
